How was I selected for the Preferred NextGen Leadership Council (PNLC)?

• In most cases you were nominated by someone within your organization. In some cases, you were nominated by an Event Industry Leader. Nominees should possess the following:

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Minimum 8-10 years of industry experience
  • Expressed desire to make a positive impact on our industry
  • Strategic thinker and desire to innovate
  • Desire to grow professional relationships
  • Commitment to their professional and personal development

What commitments are involved for members of the council?

• Participate in the virtual kick-off meeting August 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. EST / 8:00 a.m. PST, approximately 75 minutes

• Attend our in-person inaugural meeting September 18-20, 2024, at the Amrit Ocean Resort.

• Participate in a virtual meeting in December 2024
• Attend our in-person meeting in July of 2025
• Participate in 2 virtual meetings in 2025

• Complete two in-depth surveys in 2024 and two in 2025

  • Each survey will have a different focus and objective. Some will be aimed at your personal and professional development while others will serve as a way for Preferred to obtain candid feedback to improve our deliverables. The first survey will focus on your personal growth. Surveys will take approximately 30-40 minutes each.

Will we have a LinkedIn group?

• Our council members will be asked to join a private Preferred NextGen Leadership Council LinkedIn Group. If you have not received an invitation, please email Vconnelley@preferredhotels.com.

What type of engagement is required?

• In order to create a community of support, we request that you share your contact information and bio with your fellow council members. We hope to encourage connection and engagement with each other by sharing best practices, challenges, and our professional journeys within the group.

Optional “Mentor Matching”

• If you so desire to have a mentor, we will be providing a list of industry leaders that you can select from that are interested in having a mentee. This is completely optional but an incredible opportunity to have one-on-one time with a veteran, prominent leader in our industry.

Optional “Access to Executive Coaching”

• We will have speakers at both our in-person and virtual events that are skilled professional coaches. These speakers will be taking us on a journey where we will do a deep dive into our professional and personal strengths and opportunities for growth. 
• We will have group discussions that are crafted on topics of interest and challenges that are faced by this council in their professional lives. You will have opportunities to discuss specific roadblocks you are personally facing.      

Will there be any costs associated with joining the council?

• No financial commitment is required for the PNLC. We will provide an airline credit for each of the in-person meetings. All overnight accommodations, F&B, and transfers will be covered.  

How do I obtain the flight credit for the September Amrit Event?

For PNLC air reimbursement, please email Jessica (Preferred Event Manager) the following, by Friday, October 4, 2024:

• Flight reservation confirmation including the pricing
• Completed W-9 with your reimbursement request amount
• Mailing address to send the check to or if you prefer a bank transfer, please provide the following information:

  • IBAN or SWIFT #:
  • Account #:

• Please note that you are allotted up to $400 if traveling from the West Coast and $300 if traveling for the Midwest or East Coast towards the cost of your flight. Any expenses exceeding this amount will be your responsibility. Conversely, if your flight costs less than, there will be no reimbursement for the difference.

What if I do not complete my PRINT survey?

• The PRINT survey is a very important component to the PNLC expereince. If you need the PRINT survey sent to you, please email Vconnelley@preferredhotels.com.
