Roland Howlett is the Founder and Director of Frontier Travel, a Virtuoso member agency based in Sydney, Australia. His journey into the world of travel began with high school work experience at a Thomas Cook agency, sparking an early passion for the industry. Roland went on to train as a commercial pilot, spending nearly 15 years flying the iconic Boeing 747 with Qantas. Eventually, the appeal of permanent jet lag and a crew roster wore thin, and he returned to where it all began - retail travel - this time with a new perspective and a drive to do things differently. Now in its 14th year, Frontier Travel is a successful and award-winning boutique agency specialising in premium and luxury travel. Roland leads a team of talented advisors operating in a hybrid model, combining both employees and independent contractors across Australia. Roland also plays an active role in the wider travel community, serving on Virtuoso’s Regional Member Advisory Board and representing Australia on the global Virtuoso Technology Committee.
